Some of the things I love about England.
The rockery. It harbours heathers, lavender and other hardy everygreens, shrubs that seem to tolerate hose pipe bans and droughts, often found in front of wood timbered houses but not always.
A well trained dog,
with an English sense of humour.
Often being surprised by a splash of colour amid a plain green bush while walking in the woods.
A very retro mosaic tunnel in Kingston-on-Thames, where the city planners seemed to have minds of their own and no consistency.
A flock of royal swans along the riverside, begging for bread, also known as a wedge of swans when they are flying overhead in formation.
The abundance of little cars, especially those that need to be plugged in,
or are just bright and called a GWZ.
Pollarded trees that have been assured of re-growth, eventually, perhaps in June?
Way behind trees like this one already in brilliant bloom.
Beautiful ancient churches, this is the one in Bromley that dates from the 11th century,
with their stunning altar pieces, this is St. John’s in Notting Hill.
Celebrating a very special First Holy Communion with our nephew.
Falling in love with a dream house,
or two!
An old church door that would look lovely as my front door.
A good giggle at my countryman’s penchant for stating the obvious.
Roses from my garden that don’t know when to stop opening, releasing their fragrance throughout my flat. I don’t seem to be able to grow these in Texas, I wonder why?
And lastly, my favourite thing, sharing this Gap Year, on these fair shores, with my Southern Gentleman!
